About the directors
Dave Waymont
Dave studied physics and maths at university, followed by a PhD in radio astronomy and a post-doc in antenna measurement.
He joined what is now Detica in 1989 when it was a small company. He worked on sonar, radar and communications systems gaining a reputation for innovation and free-thinking.
He set up Waymont Consulting so he could continue to do challenging technical work in a demanding market. He carries out feasibility studies, system design, algorithm development and data analysis.
Phil Morris
Phil joined the MoD DESG student training scheme and spent his gap year at RNEC Manadon. He studied Electrical and Information Sciences in the Engineering Department at Cambridge University and graduated in 1999.
After university he joined Detica as a consultant working on a range of projects including naval radio receivers and network traffic monitoring systems. He started working independently in 2005 and joined Waymont Consulting at the start of 2007.
Phil is responsible for the majority of the hardware and software implementation. This includes FPGA development and optimisation of DSP software to exploit SIMD instruction sets and multi-core processors across a range of architectures.
